The standard we aim for

This website has been built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That standard covers how content is presented, how it can be operated without a mouse, and how it behaves with assistive technology.

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML throughout, with a single H1 per page and a logical heading order.
  • A skip link so keyboard users can bypass the navigation and reach the main content directly.
  • Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
  • Full keyboard operability, including the navigation menus, accordions and forms.
  • Form fields with associated labels, clear error messages linked to their inputs, and errors announced to screen readers.
  • Colour contrast tested against WCAG AA thresholds in both the light and dark themes.
  • Respect for the operating system's reduced-motion setting. When it is enabled, animations are removed rather than merely shortened.
  • Text that reflows without loss of content or function at 200% zoom and on small screens.
  • Descriptive link text, and decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.

Known limitations

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a fixed state, and automated testing does not catch everything. We are not aware of significant barriers at present, but real-world use by people with access needs is the most reliable test there is.

If you encounter something that does not work for you, we would genuinely like to know.
