Why we publish this
Claiming to be ethical costs nothing. What is worth something is being specific enough that you can hold us to it, which is what this page attempts to be.
Every commitment below is written so that you can tell whether we have met it. If we have not, we would rather you challenged us than quietly walked away.
What we commit to
- We tell you what we can and cannot influence, including that no consultancy can guarantee a regulator's or an immigration authority's decision.
- We give you an honest assessment of your prospects at the outset, including when a route is a poor fit for your background.
- We set out the role, employer, location and contract terms in writing before you are asked to commit to anything.
- We disclose that we are engaged by employers, so you always know who is paying us and for what.
- We explain any costs that apply to you before you incur them.
- We give you time to take advice and compare options, and we do not create artificial deadlines.
- We never retain your passport or original certificates.
- We support you after placement, through onboarding and arrival.
What we will never do
- Ask you to sign terms you have not had a reasonable opportunity to read and understand.
- Ask you to commit to a role before you have seen the employer, location and terms in full.
- Hold your original documents as a condition of continuing.
- Apply pressure, manufactured urgency, or penalties for changing your mind.
- Describe a role in terms that differ from the contract you are ultimately offered.
- Share your personal information with an employer without your knowledge.
Your right to walk away
You can end your engagement with us at any point, for any reason or none, without penalty. Relocating internationally is one of the most significant decisions a person makes, and a process that punishes you for reconsidering is not one worth being in.
How to hold us to this
If anything in your experience of working with us does not match this policy, tell us in writing at admin@britwington.com. Set out what happened and when. We will look into it and respond to you directly.
Raise concerns as early as you can. An ethical process depends on candidates feeling able to challenge it, and a concern raised early is far easier to put right than one raised after the fact.
Verifying us
You are entitled to verify who you are dealing with, and we encourage it. Britwington Consultancy UK Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 16913776. You can check that on the public register yourself rather than taking our word for it.
Apply the same scrutiny to us that you would apply to any other recruiter. A consultancy that treats reasonable verification as an insult has told you something important about itself.
